PROJECT

Make Joop Dope Again.

The campaign that brought Jopen back into the spotlight.

OVERVIEW

Nostalgia meets streetwear.

For the project “Make Joop Dope Again” by the Haarlem-based beer brand Jopen, I designed a clothing line that combines modern streetwear with a nostalgic concept. The collection featured Popie Jopie hoodies, bucket hats, and beanies, aiming to make the name ‘Joop’ cool again.

CHALLENGE

Reviving a name.

The popularity of the name Joop had declined significantly in recent years. The challenge was to translate a nostalgic and playful concept into a trendy clothing line that aligned with Jopen’s identity as a young and unconventional brand. At the same time, the collection needed to evoke a sense of pride and recognition in anyone who knows a ‘Joop.’

RESULT

A viral hit.

The collection became part of a creative campaign in which every Joop in the Netherlands was transformed into a super-dope influencer. With a ‘Popie Jopie’ package - including Jopen-branded items like a hoodie, bucket hat, and tote bag - they became the face of this movement. The initiative was widely shared and embraced, not only by the Joops themselves but also by their families and friends. The campaign went viral, gained significant media and press attention, and not only positioned Jopen as a young and cool brand but also gave every Joop in the Netherlands a boost of pride. A perfect blend of design, humor, and impact.
